Cuphead has been one of the most exciting, challenging, and thrilling games of 2017 and now it is chosen to be transformed into an animated series on Netflix! The retro-style cartoon will hit Netflix soon so here’s everything you show know about it so far.
If you are unsure of what Cuphead is then allow me to fill you in with the information. Having started in September 2017, Cuphead was only available on Microsoft’s Xbox platform as a stand-alone platform. It attracted gamers around the world with its cartoon style and complexity, two years later players are still playing this popular game.
Popular Game
Sold over 4 million units of the game, the game is now available for download on Nintendo Switch and Mac devices. Cuphead has won more than 20 video game awards including Xbox One’s Game of the Year and the best independent Game Award.
The series was first announced that it was getting picked up by Netflix to be made into an animated series in July 2019.
Studio MDHR is a video game studio but Netflix will work in partnership with the King Features Syndicate to convert video game to cartoon series.
Cartoon Series
The series will expand into the world of Cuphead and we will be learning more about the bright world and the characters of the world. Cuphead show! will retain its iconic art style inspired by Fleischer’s 1930s cartoons.
The series will be built in-house by Netflix Animation but will be assisted by King Features Syndicate. Award-winning producers Dave Wasson and Cosmo Segurson will work as co-producers.
Voice Artists
Annecy Festival had earlier revealed that season 1 will be 11 episodes in total with each of them being locked up at about 10 minutes.
Here’s the list of voice-over artists who are a part of the project:
- Frank Todaro as Mugman (known for voicing Starscream in Transformers)
- Tru Valentino as Cuphead (known for Hot Streets)
- Joe Hanna as Elder Kettle (known for Looper)
- Luke Millington-Drake (known for Best Friend Fix)
- Jim Conroy as Ollie (best known for FLETCH!)
It has already been confirmed that the series will not have as many details as the video game, but co-creator Chad Moldenhauer wants to avoid as many computer-assisted images as possible.
In June 2021, alongside a new clip at Geeked Week, it was announced that Wayne Brady (Whose Line Is It Anyway) will be voicing the role of King Dice.
